Our Red and Blues produced another memorable European night.
Our Red and Blues produced another memorable European night. In the electric atmosphere of the City Stadium in Banja Luka, KuPS were defeated 2–0 as our team secured their first victory of the season in the UEFA Conference League. Stefan Savić opened the scoring in the first half, while Matej Deket sealed the visitors' fate in the second half of a match that our team dominated from the first to the final whistle.
“We played our game – the European way. We started the match brilliantly and delivered an excellent first-half performance. We scored the opening goal, and then Matej finished expertly in the second half to double our lead. It's a very important victory, but as they say, we're only getting started,” said Stefan Savić after the match, becoming the first player in our club's history to make thirty European appearances in the Borac shirt.
Matej Deket delivered one of his finest performances in the Red and Blue shirt, with many considering it his best yet. He was distributing passes with pinpoint precision, and in the second half, he showed remarkable composure to convert Luka Juričić's pass and score his first goal in the UEFA Conference League.
“First and foremost, I want to highlight the team and my teammates, who showed quality, determination and desire. Together, we secured an important victory, and I want to thank our supporters for their incredible backing. I enjoyed every moment on the pitch and always strive to give my very best. We will do everything in our power on the pitch to reach the knockout stages and secure European football in the spring. I also invite our fans to come and support us on Sunday against Sloga,” said Deket.
Head coach Vinko Marinović was also delighted with his team's performance.
“We played an excellent match, perhaps our best performance of the season so far. We approached the game offensively from the very first minute, and it paid off. KuPS had a few opportunities, but we managed to keep everything under control and secure a big victory. The players delivered a fantastic performance, and I congratulate them wholeheartedly. I also want to thank all our supporters, whose incredible backing from the stands carried us to victory,” said Marinović.
