In Focus: Luka Juričić

Luka Juričić led the Premier League’s scoring chart with six goals and is determined to continue at an even stronger pace after the league’s break. In great form at the start of the season, he says that his goals and the team’s excellent results are the result of the whole squad’s great play.

“I couldn’t imagine a better start to the season. For a striker, scoring goals is always important, but what makes me happiest is that the team grows from match to match and we look better on the pitch. I think we can be satisfied with the results so far, but we mustn’t forget there is still room for further progress. Of course, there is regret from the early elimination in European qualifying, but again we managed to lift ourselves and step back onto the right path. We train excellently, everyone is fully focused and totally committed to team success. We know what our goal is and we will give our all to achieve it,” Juričić says.

He has only words of praise for the supporters, and he says he feels at home at Borac from day one.

“The team accepted me from the first day like I’ve been here for years. I knew a few players from before, but we all ‘clicked’ and breathe as one. That’s what characterises us. That team spirit and ‘chemistry’ inside the squad. I know Borac has always been recognised for that, and this season nothing has changed. From experience I know unity is always an extra advantage, and it gives us strength to get better every day,” Juričić emphasises.

He overcame a serious injury that kept him off the pitch for a long time, yet he found the strength to return to his old form, approaching every training session with the motivation to be even better.
