PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE RACE: ANOTHER WIN ON THE ROAD TO THE GOAL
Borac’s machine continued its march toward the championship title, recording their eighteenth Premier League victory of the season with a convincing 5–1 win over Široki Brijeg.
The visitors took the lead in the 5th minute through Mate Stanić, but our red-and-blues turned the match around before halftime with goals from Luka Juričić in the 29th minute and Stefan Savić in the 39th minute.
In the second half, we added three more goals despite being reduced to ten men in the 64th minute when Siniša Saničanin received a red card for a foul.
Luka Juričić scored his second goal of the match in the 54th minute, while Matej Deket got on the scoresheet in the 77th minute. He later added his second goal in stoppage time to seal an emphatic victory.
“We didn’t start the match well and exactly what we had warned about happened. We knew that Široki Brijeg transitions very well after winning the ball. They took the lead and it certainly took us 10–15 minutes to regain control of the game. After that we managed to turn the result around.
In the second half we faced another difficult moment when we received a red card after a careless mistake and challenge. It wasn’t easy in those moments, but these players once again showed their quality and character, just as they have many times before. I want to congratulate them because it is never easy. We knew this match would also be very difficult, but we successfully overcame it and now we are preparing for the next game in the fight for the title,” said Vinko Marinović, the head coach of our team, after the new victory.
