PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE RACE: BIG DERBY WIN, MATEJ DEKET MAKES HISTORY
Our “Red and Blues” continued their march toward a new championship title, recording another important victory in one of the biggest Premier League derbies by defeating Zrinjski 3–0.
The goals were scored by Srđan Grahovac in the 49th minute, Luka Juričić in the 67th, and Matej Deket in stoppage time (90+2), while Stefan Savić provided all three assists.
The derby at the City Stadium will be especially memorable for Matej Deket.
After coming on as a substitute, he first took over the captain’s armband from Srđan Grahovac, before finding the back of the net and becoming the youngest goalscorer in the history of our club, as well as the second youngest since the establishment of the Premier League.
“I was in tears because this means so much to me. My club, my city – it’s truly indescribable. It was a magical night filled with so many beautiful moments. The atmosphere was fantastic, and we outclassed an opponent who is a direct rival in the title race. I would like to thank our captain, Srđan Grahovac, for giving me the armband – it has special meaning for me, as I am also a child of Borac. I also want to thank all my teammates, because none of this would have been possible without them,” said Deket, who celebrated his goal with tears in his eyes.
