Premier League Title Race: Draw Against Velež
Our “red-and-blues” were unable to secure all three points in the clash with Velež.
The match of the 29th round of the Premier League, played at the City Stadium in Banja Luka, ended in a 2–2 draw.
Our players took a two-goal lead after just eight minutes, with Amer Hiroš finding the net twice for the hosts.
However, Velež fought back through Đani Salčin (15th minute) and Ivan Šarić (70th minute) to claim a draw by the final whistle.
“We must not allow ourselves to relax— a team that wants to win the title cannot afford that. Simply put, we were not at the energy level we had shown in previous matches. We were up against a team that is very fast and physically strong, and that’s where we fell short. But we move on. There are still matches ahead, and we will prepare for the derby against Zrinjski coming up on Wednesday. We had eight consecutive wins, but sometimes you can’t play the way you want— the opponent has a say as well. In previous matches, we conceded one goal, today it was two, which shows a drop in our defensive discipline. Above all, that is something we must improve,” said Vinko Marinović, head coach of our team.
